Die Grammatik wurde aus den Grammatiken entwickelt, die in Head-Driven Phrase Structure Grammar: Eine Einführung beschrieben sind. Sie weicht von den Lehrbuchgramatiken dadurch ab, dass sie Minimal Recursion Semantics für die semantischen Repräsentationen verwendet.
