A Personal Note on Open Access in Linguistics

This paper describes my personal motivation for trying to establish Open Access book series. It contains an analysis of the financial aspects of academic careers in some European countries, with a special focus on Germany and concludes that current book prices are too high for individual scholars to be affordable. In the remainder of the paper I suggest a setting that can solve the problem while ensuring a high quality of published books.
